Several Arsenal academy stars impressed in the Bournemouth draw, with Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly particularly standing out.

Ben White is BACK!

Arsenal fans will have missed watching Ben White’s antics on set-pieces during the summer break, but they did not have to wait long to see them again against Bournemouth.

The defender continued his ‘blocking’ role on attacking corners, as he gave the Bournemouth goalkeeper and defence nightmares with his movement as the ball came in, and prevented them from clearing it instantly.

Classic.

Arsenal take on Manchester United next

After the 1-1 draw against Fulham, Arsenal are set to take on Manchester United late on Saturday night.

The Gunners would love to pick up a win in that game, and we think Mikel Arteta will name a much stronger starting lineup against the Red Devils than he did against Bournemouth.

Arsenal fans react to Ethan Nwaneri’s performance

Nwaneri got a surprise start in Arsenal’s midfield against Bournemouth, and he was terrific.

Arteta has deployed Lewis-Skelly at left-back and the youngster has started the game very well.

The teenager is tucking into midfield whenever he can as well – very similar to what Zinchenko does for the Gunners when he plays.

Arteta is not messing around

Play is stopped for a drinks break, and Arteta, just like he does during competitive games, has called all of his players to the touchline.

The Arsenal boss is as animated as ever, and he can be seen shouting instructions to everyone in front of him. Arteta has a bit of a long chat with Vieira before play restarts.

He is not taking it easy even though this is a friendly. That is the standard!

[Link]

Shamanth Jayaram

Vieira the winger?

Vieira is naturally an attacking midfielder, but his versatility allows him to play in almost every attacking position.

The former Porto star is playing on the right flank today, and he has looked really good so far. His goal makes his performance even better.

Some Arsenal fans think Vieira should be used out wide more often.

Fabio Vieira seems a lot more comfortable receiving on the wing and driving into midfield, rather than receiving BTL.

Fabio Vieira has received a rare start for Arsenal against Bournemouth.

The Portuguese attacking midfielder has been at the club for two years now, and although he has shown flashes of brilliance, we’re yet to see any sort of consistency in his game.

With Smith Rowe closing in on an exit, Vieira has to step up and show Arteta that he is good enough to play for Arsenal.

Nketiah urges Arsenal youngsters to take their opportunities

Nketiah came through the ranks at Hale End and is now a first-team player. The Englishman knows exactly what it takes to make that step up from the academy to the senior side.

The Arsenal number 14 has now shared some advice to the youngsters who have travelled with the squad to the United States.

He said: “Pre-season is really good for a lot of the lads who haven’t trained or played with us that much to show what they can do. It gives people opportunities to show themselves and get fit, so hopefully they can take them.

“It’s a platform, even for us now, to make our mark and start playing games regularly and get fit. I think there are a lot of examples of players who did well in pre-season and gone on to play and have minutes in the first team, so it’s a really good chance.

Jurrien Timber missed almost all of last season due to a serious knee injury. That was such a shame as he looked so good in Arsenal’s pre-season tour of the United States in 2023.

Timber returned to training at the end of last season, and he has been working really hard to get back to full fitness. He has been training under Arteta since the first day of pre-season in Marbella.

Zinchenko, whose place Timber could take, has been really impressed with the Dutchman and has raved about him.

He said: “I knew him (Timber) before he came to Arsenal. I played against him for the national team at the Euros. I knew him as a player. He is an unbelievable player and an unbelievable guy. He is so humble, he is working super hard.

“Unfortunately for him he just picked up an injury, but he is doing amazing now. I was watching all the process, the way he was coming back from the injury, how much he was working.

BREAKING: Smith Rowe close to leaving Arsenal

David Ornstein has just confirmed on X that Fulham are close to agreeing a deal to sign Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal.

The journalist has revealed that talks are taking place over a move worth up to £35 million, which would make Smith Rowe Fulham’s record signing.

Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth has also confirmed the news.

It will be sad to see Smith Rowe leave, but it may just be the best move for all parties involved if it goes through.
